The 43rd ICANN Meeting held in San Jose, Costa Rica, ended successfully on March 16. The event was inaugurated on March 12 and was attended by Mrs. Laura Chinchilla President of the Republic of Costa Rica, whose speech made a clear analysis of the issues currently of interest to the global Internet community.

On that occasion, ICANN presented a special recognition to the ccTLDs that have completed 25 or more years of existence. NIC Chile, which manages .CL since 1987, was among this select group of Internet pioneers honored at that time.

At the same ceremony ICANN offered a public recognition to Patricio Poblete, Director of NIC Chile, thanking him for his 8 years of service to the community of ccTLDs, by his membership in the Council of the ccNSO (Country Code Names Supporting Organization) since its inception to date, in addition to his role as a member of the Council of the DNSO, predecessor of the ccNSO, since 1999.

In the same meeting, Margarita Valdes, Legal and Business Director of NIC Chile, became a member of the ccNSO Council, a position to which she had been elected in 2011.

Congratulations to Patricio and Margarita for the awards received, honoring the involvement of the Chilean and Latin American community in the development of the Internet.
