NIC Chile announces that it has included the DNSSEC key for the .CL zone at the root of the DNS. This, together with the cryptographic signature of the zone, which has been done for a few months, completes the first stage in the project to add security extensions for DNS, known as DNSSEC.
Also, we have updated the documentation section of DNSSEC on our site, including the "Declaration of Policy and Practice for DNSSEC in the .CL zone".
DNSSEC is a set of security extensions used to add an additional layer to the DNS protocol, to provide new mechanisms of integrity and authenticity of the source of DNS queries, without breaking the current operation of the protocol, this is, it coexists coexist with the current DNS.
The next stage of this project is the mechanism to accept DNSSEC keys of the holders of .CL domain names, expected for later this year.
More information can be found in the DNSSEC section (in Spanish) of our website.
