The new policy governing the operation of the .CL Domain Name Registry will come into effect on Sunday, 1st December 2013, updating .CL domain name registration and dispute resolution procedures.
These new policies reflect NIC Chile's strategy to conform to the practices generally accepted by the international domain name industry, which were discussed and agreed with the national Internet community, represented on the National Council on Domain Names and IP Numbers.
Along with these changes, NIC Chile will deploy a new domain name registration and management system based on user accounts. From now on, all new domain names will be registered through a user account, so those interested in doing so should select the "Create Account" option in the "Registered Customers" window at www.nic.cl.
In addition, we have simplified our processes, including the immediate registration of domain names as soon as the corresponding fee is paid and allowing foreigners to register domain names directly, no longer requiring a local representative. We have also established the revocation procedure as the general dispute resolution method for .CL domain controversies.
