1. What are the New .CL Policies?
The New .CL Policies are a set of rules that will come into force on December 1st, 2013 and will introduce changes to our domain name registration service, bringing it closer to international industry practices.
2. Which documents make up the New .CL Policies?
The New Policies comprise the New NIC Chile Regulations, our Dispute Resolution Policy (in Spanish) and other procedures, among them the one dealing with user accounts, changing an administrative contact, etc.
3. When will the New .CL Policies come into force?
The new policies will come into force on December 1st, 2013.
4. Which domain names will be subject to the New .CL Policies?
All domain names registered after December 1st, 2013 will be subject to the New .CL Policies.
5. What are the Provisional Rules included in the NIC Chile Regulations? What is their purpose?
These special rules modify certain aspects of the NIC Chile Regulations (in Spanish) and make the New .CL Policies easier to implement.
6. When will the NIC Chile Regulations as amended by the Provisional Rules come into force and when will they no longer be in effect?
The NIC Chile Regulations as amended by the Provisional Rules will apply during the month of November, 2013.
7. What will happen if I apply to register a domain name but do not pay the corresponding application fee by December 1st, 2013?
If the fee has not been paid, the application will be deleted. Starting on December 1st, 2013, there will be no more unpaid registration requests.
8. In the case above, if the application is deleted due to nonpayment, can I file a new application to register the domain name after December 1st, 2013?
Yes. If the domain name is still available, you may submit a new registration request. Please remember, however, that in order to submit a new request you will need a user account and must pay the corresponding registration fee.
9. If I pay my application fee before December 1st, 2013, will my domain name be registered?
Your domain name will be registered if your application is the only one that has been submitted for that name, or if it's the first to have been submitted in case there are several.
10. What happens if two or more applications for the same domain name have been paid for on December 1st, 2013?
In this case, the domain name will be immediately assigned to the first applicant and any other application will be considered a request for revocation.
11. In the event that a dispute arising in connection with a domain name is already being processed on December 1st, 2013, will the New .CL Policies still apply?
No. Any domain name dispute that is already being processed on December 1st, 2013 will continue to be processed according to the previous procedure.
12. Why can I only specify a single email address for my administrative contact?
The Provisional Rules introduce this restriction in order to simplify domain name management starting on December 1st, 2013, such as, for example, transferring domain names from the previous system to a user account, etc.
